Hi, I am following any and all leads trying to learn something about my ggg-grandmother Dorothy McDonald. All we know is that she was first married to a Capt. Allen of Georgetown SC by ca. 1808, when she had a son John Allen. Capt. Allen was "lost at sea" and in 1810 she married William Goodman, my ggg-grandfather. She died in 1825 in Greeneville TN.
Searching the McDonald list I ran across a message referring to the [1786?] will James McDonald (brother of Archibald) of the Camden SC district, whose wife was Rachel and whose children included a Dorothy and a Binkey (both interestingly unusual names for the time and place). Following the Binkey lead brought me to the Lesesne line (she married Charles F. Lesesne).
Anyway, the McDonald-Georgetown-Lesesne connection looks promising - does anybody know anything more about these McDonalds or about any Allen or Goodman connection?
BTW, how do you pronounce Lesesne?
