Hello James,
I tried the email address for you and it said there was a problem with the address......
Not only did Jean Elizabeth come to the US, but the entire LeRoy Family left Quebec at a time when the French Government was beginning to ban the departure of its citizens to the American Colonies. Simeontook his family to Albany, NY where he died a pauper, sometime after 1706. One child of Simeon LeRoy, Jean LeRoy remained in Quebec and married Therese Jobin. He died at Charlesbourg, Quebec in 1741. I have 30+ years of research on the Simeon LeRoy line.
What I an seeking is documentation that the grandfather of Simeon LeRoy was Jacques LeRoy, rather than Thomas LeRoy. All of my research has come from a hired genealogist, Anne Osselyn, who was living in Rouen, Normandy France. Myself and Robert B. LeRoy of Manchester, NH received Anne's name from The Society of Genealogy, Rouen. We sought out a genealogist who was familiar with Normandy and knew where to research records for our plan of action. We hired Anne to first locate all LeRoy Families and where they lived in 1600 and before. The LeRoys were found living in eight communities in and not far from Creance, Normandy, where Simeon was Baptized in 1637. The only LeRoy Family that fit the time-line of that baptism and was living or working at Creance was the Richard LeRoy Family at Fontenay sur Mer. The Inventory of Courcy and civil records of Fontenay-sur- Mer, were used to come the the conclusion that Thomas LeRoy was the father of Richard LeRoy, father of Simeon LeRoy.
Now everyone is claiming that Jacques LeRoy was the grandfather of Simeon. All I am seeking is the origin of this information that everyone seems to be using in their genealogy
of the Simeon LeRoy line. I cannot prove or disprove anything without the source for Jacques.I would be most appreciative if you can find the source of your information.
Thanking you in advance,
Richard Churchill LeRoy
