The known children of Peter and Barbara Hege Leonard:
1. Valentine, b. in Virginia about 1767 according to the 1850 Vermillion Co. IL census captured by the Indians
2. Michael captured by the Indians
3. Female captured by the the Indians
4. Female caputured by the Indians

Peter was killed at Ruddles Station and Barbara was a captive and died enroute to Dakota. The four children listed above were also captured by the Indians at Ruddles Station. Valentine was my ancestor.
Valentine and Michael were traded for indiana prisoners were awarded "lawful" money for their share of inheritance from Peter.

Valentine's wife Mary "Polly" Fowler Leonard b. 1776 she was of Irish descent. Both are buried in the Leonard Cemetery a few miles northeast of Danville, IL in Newell Township.

Their son, my ancestor, James m. Jane Wood they are buried in the Leonard Cemetery Vermillion Co. IL

James and Jane's son Michael m. Jane Claypool they are my Grandparents. They are buried in Homestead Cemetery OK

I suggest you contact Vermillion County IL Courts or Historical Society for information spcifics. Both Valentine and James had a son named William and Sally Cronkite is listed in the book as the wife of both. I believe she was the wife of James' son but do not have my records available at this time. Valentine's son William's wife could very easily be Rebecca Wallace.
