Hi.
I have finally figured out the various name changes for the Leonhardt line of my family.
Heinrich Jacob Leonhard (1828-1907) was born in Germany and when he emmigrated to America (Herndon, Virginia), changed his name to Jacob Leonhardt. His wife was Mary (1833-1899). (One of his sons, James Leonhardt, migrated to Philadelphia - My direct line.)
He came to America with two of his brothers.
Johann Georg Leonhard (1831-1910) changed his name to George Lanhardt. (This is sometimes referred to in Census and other places as Lenhardt.) Most of his issue were in D.C., then Maryland.
Johann Heinrich Leonhard Jr. (1818-xxxx) became John H. Leonhardt and have no further info on him.
