The records from the Indian Nation (before Statehood) are in the Histoical Library, OKC. Are you in OK?
My parents were children when my GFathers came to OK so they remembered much of it.
Valentine Leonhardt was our ancestor in NC before the RevWar. He and his five sons fought in the battle of Guilford County and he was killed by Tories in his home 2 days after the battle ended. There is a monument to him in NC. His parents were Michael and Johanna Leonhardt of Katzenbach, Germany. You may find information and sources on the www.familysearch.org the LDS site. They are also available at the Morman Church Libray centers.
Good Luck
