I wasn't confusing the John Leonard who died in 1908 with the one who died in 1936 one bit.
I indicated there was a death certificate for a John Leonard who died in 1936 which showed the father was born in Erie, PA and mother in Canada. It also showed he was born in 1879. But the chances this is not the death certificate of the identical John Leonard you refer to in the obituary is extremely unlikely if not impossible. His exact place of death, date of burial, place of burial, parents and wife's names are all identical. The only difference is that the death certificate shows he died April 8. As for where his parents were born and the year of birth the data is only as good as the informant's knowledge of the person.
I also indicated there was another death certificate for a John Leonard who died in 1909. I suggested he might be the elder John Leonard since he died around the same time and buried in the same cemetery.
