Karen,
I have a little more about a branch of your family that you haven't posted.
John and Melinda's eldest son was James C. Leonard, born December 1863 in Dunn Co., Wisconsin; he and his wife, Hattie E. (b. Jun 1866 in Michigan) were living at Scappoose Precinct, Columbia Co., Oregon in the 1900 census. They had four children living in 1900 --
Edward E. Leonard, b. 26 Mar 1889 in Seattle, WA (see ancestry.com's WWI registrations), Albert R. (b. Feb 1890 in Oregon), Lucy L. (b. Oct 1892 in Oregon), Charles L. (b. Apr 1897 in Oregon)
Edward E. Leonard (b. 26 mar 1889 in Seattle, WA) was married to Susie, (b. ca. 1897 in Oregon). They (and their son, James Edward Leonard) were living in Seaside City, Clatsop Co., Oregon in the 1920 census. Edward was listed as a cashier at the railroad depot.
Evidently Edward died, or was divorced, for by 1930 his wife Susie E. was married to Fred A. Perrott(born abt 1890) and living at 710 East 42 Street North, in Portland, Oregon.
James Edward Leonard, son of Edward and Susie) was born in about 1912 and on April 4, 1930 married my grandfather's 1st cousin, Olga Stephanove, at Chehalis, Washington.Olga and James lived in Portland, where Olga died October 24, 2004.
Did you link John Leonard to any other Maine family?
Cheers!
Richard Cochran
