Jane, the birth dates are so close on our Leonards--possibly sisters or cousins? I would bet the sons would be miners as well, at least when they were young. If they died in 1882, then you could catch them in the 1880 Census somewhere. I found my gg-parents by starting in Pennsylvania, and checking the Census across the country until I found them in the Leadville, Co mines in 1880. I used www.familysearch.org and used the US Census. I would try by the parent's names, and then by the son's names. If they lived with a daughter, you may have a problem. If all else failed, you could do the same thing with the Soundex and microfilms,at a library, which might pick them up.
