Thanks so much for responding to my querie.. I am so sorry to hear about your loss.. losing your second companion must be devasting..I hope you are on your way to some peace..
I live in Belen, New Mexico.. I only know that my great-grandfather, Joseph Leonard, was in St. Louis MO, based on a land purchase agreement he made there for land in Lawrence County, Arkansas in 1892.. nothing from then to 1896 when he married my Great-grandmother.. He submitted a Declaration of Intention to become a US Citizen in 1915 in Oregon, and on that he says he was born 1859 in Ontario.. We have no idea who his parents were and think he may have had a brother named James, but no proof..
I think - many years ago - I checked with the diocese in Missouri and they had no record of him.. I have done a lot of research in Ontario, Missouri, Arkansas, Oregon.. my granmother found him buried in Telluride, CO.. he had put her up for adoption when she was 8 - 1913..
After 22 years of researching Joseph, I am in no hurry.. Granma died 2 years ago.. without knowing who he really was.. Since she died I have been mad at him.. she needed to know something..
I look forward to hearing from you
