This may be a long-shot hunch, but have you ever looked into the ancestry of James Leonard b. 1621/22 in Wales; died c. 1690 in Taunton MA? His spouse was Mary (Margaret) Martin. His line goes back to a Sampson Leonard b. abt 1544 in Wales. Sampson's wife was Margaret Fiennes. Her father was Thomas Fiennes, who was a Baron. His wife was Mary Neville. It is possible that the Fiennes and Nevilles were from Royal Lines. If you have access to the LDS Family Search (familysearch.org), go to the Ancestor File on James Leonard and someone has posted quite a family tree there. I have seen this Surname spelled as Lennard also. Good Luck!
