This is my paternal grandfather's name. My father was born June 15, 1916 in New Orleans. I don't think there is an accent over the 'o' in Leon, but I can't rule it out. My father had many brothers and sisters but was raised by an Italian grocer and his wife. He was in the Army and served in WWII. He could be of French, African or Spanish descent. His nicknames were 'Frenchy' and 'Mookie'. I'm trying to find out which country of origin my family is from, but Lousianna did not begin keeping death/marriage/birth records until the early 1900s. Please reply if this rings a bell with you. Thanks!
