My paternal grandmother, Francisca LEON NEGRON, was born in 1902 in Ponce to Juan LEON COLON (bo. Coto Laurel) and Maria Concepcion NEGRON RIVERA (bo. Collores, Juana Diaz). In 1905, Maria Concepcion died and her death was registered in Juana Diaz. They had been living in bo. Collabo at the time. I have always been told that Francisca LEON NEGRON's parents died when she was very young and in 1910 she is listed as living with her maternal grandparents. I cannot find a death certificate for Juan LEON COLON.
Today, while researching the 1920 US Census for Ponce, I came across a Juan LEON COLON (born about 1882 - perfect year) and married to a Jovita LEON RAMOS. They had listed the following children: Angel (age 12), Aguedo (age 10), Vicente (age 9), Juan de Dios (age 8), Rosa Antonia (age 6), Felix (?Felipe) (age 4) and Victor Manuel (age 3). All with the surname LEON LEON. The oldest would have been born in 1908 which places his birth after Maria Concepcion's death. They were living in barrio San Anton at the time of the cenus.
Could this Juan LEON COLON be Francisca's father? If anyone is researching any of the people listed above, please email me. I would like to know more about my grandmother's father. Unfortunately Francisca died when my father was 5 so he does not know much about her parents. Thank you
