There must be someone out there who knows my Great Grandfather.
His name is Max Christoff Martin Lenz. Our family bible states his name as Martin Lenz born in Hof Bavaria occupation Sailor. In 1895 he married my Great Grandmother Marie Annie Wilson in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. Marie Annie was known as Annie.
His full name is shown on the birth certificates of their 2 children Elizabeth b. 9 October 1897 and Ettie b. 22 September 1900. Martin is the name shown on their marriage certificate date 6 June 1895.
Family history has it that Martin may have died around 1900 as Marie (or Mary) Annie remarried and her second husband would not accept the 2 girls and they were put in a foundling home when Elizabeth was around 3 or 4. From information in the family bible and from stories that my mother told me it appears as if at least Elizabeth was still in contact with her mother when she was and adult. My mother was the youngest of 4 granddaughters and can remember visiting Rockhampton as a 3 year old. My mother was born in 1929.
It is also unknown what happened to Ettie.
