I am seeking information on Abraham Lent's elder brother, Peter Lent, also a Loyalist. Here is what I know about Peter Lent.I would like to know about his death and any children that he may have had.
Peter Lent was born in Tappan, NY in 1739 and died c. 1783. He served in the French and Indian war - first as a Lieutenant and then as a Captain. He mustered as a lieutenant on April 16, 1759 in Captain James Howell's Company from Orange County, New York. His record describes him as being dark haired, full face and standing 5' 6 1/2". He was promoted to Captain before June 2, 1761.
Captain Peter Lent was the son of Adolph Lent of Orange County, New York. Because Adolph Lent was a Loyalist, his property was confiscated. Adolph Lent died intestate on 8 October 1780, leaving the following children:
Abraham Lent
James Lent
Peter Lent (1739-1783)
Abraham Lent and Peter Lent (1739-1783) also appear on the list of Loyalists whose property was forfeit. Peter Lent was married to a woman named Maria, who served as his executrix and represented his interests in the proceedings before the British authorities requesting damages for Peter's losses in New York State.
Any additional information that you might be willing to share about the life, death, and children, if any, of Peter Lent will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
