WILLIAM LENT and ANN (BOYCE-we think). This information is obtained from old newspapers, census records and history book. So there is likely some discrepancies with years, etc. Plus some of it is guess work.
William was a ship builder. He was born about 1800, likely in NY. Married to Ann Boyce, NY. Ann Boyce was born 1800. She died June 19, 1844, Ashtabula, OH. Ann had a brother, Barnett (b.abt.1802). Their mother was Hannah. After Ann died, William remarried Sylvia _?_ Hannah Boyce, Barnett Boyce, William Lent, Ann Lent, Sylvia Lent are all buried in the same lot at Edgewood Cemetery in Ashtabula, OH.
William and Ann had the following children:
I-ANDREW NELSON LENT, b.May 3, 1825 at Tarrytown, NY. Moved to Ohio at a young age with his family. Married Barsheba Fredericks, I think in Ashtabula, OH. They had one son who died about 1844 in a drowning. Andrew was a ship builder and ship’s Captain. He died Mar. 1886 in Oxford, Mich. at age 60. They lived at Conneaut, OH for many years.
II-WILLIAM LENT, b. 1830, NY. Married Almira or Alvira (b.abt.1840) They had 3 children:
1-Katie Belle Lent, b. 1858. died at age 16 on Apr 21, 1874
2-Archie Lent, b.1861. Twin to Archer.
3-Archer Lent, b. 1861. Archer was run over by a train in 1871, Ashtabula.
III-CHARLES WESLEY LENT, b. 1834, NY. Married Katie. Children:
1-Nelson, b. 1868
2-Burton, b.1870
3-Avator, Avalon, or Clavion, or ?. Very hard to read.
IV-BENJAMIN LENT, b. 1836, NY. died 1891 in Minnesota. Married Katherine HIGGINS. They had 3 children.
1-Nellie, b. abt. 1869, OH.
2-Prelie, married James Heywood in Minnesota.
3-One son died very young. I don’t know where he fits in.
V-ANN MARIE LENT, b. 1843 ? Ann died 13 June 1906 in Ashtabula, OH. Buried at Edgewood Cemetery in Ashtabula. Married Harvey Whitman. they had 2 children:
1-Edward E. Whitman
2-Mrs. O.S. Baldwin. these are from Ann Marie’s obituary. Also in Ann Marie’s obituary it said Ann was survived by her husband and children AND “a brother out west.” This brother would have to be William Lent or Charles Wesley Lent.
BARSHEBA FREDERICKS LENT’S father was JEROMEN FREDERICKS. He had the following children: [this is from a history book published in 1898]
1-Emory-in Canada.
2-Betsy, married to Luther Spencer, both are deceased.
3-Harriet-married Seth McNutt, Seth is deceased
4-William.
5-Jerome.
6-Mrs. Elial Risdon.
7-Barsheba-widow of Capt. Andrew Lent. Living with her sister, Mrs. Risdon.
8-Levi.
9-Elbridge
