I have found a personal account (by Harris Harding Lent, grandson of James Lent and my great-grandmother's uncle - writing in 1911) about some of the relatives. James is the same person as Cobus or Jacobus.)The personal notes speak of a letter written to James Lent (son of Adolph) from his sister at Old Tappan, signed Cornelia Haring. H.H. Lent mentions that the Harings and Lents are "all mixed up", (marriages between family members as you mentioned). In his words: the grandfather (James Lent) did not write back his sister Cornelia because she married a "rebel". He was a Loyalist who left New York for Nova Scotia. H.H. Lent was upset (found the letter at age 8) and asked his mother about the grandfather's reasons for not writing his sister....The notes go on to say that "Cornelia's husband, I think, is her cousin Serritt Haring; her mother's maiden name was Catherine Haring whose father was Cornelius Haring. He also believes that Great Uncle Abram Lent married a Haring (no children) and mentions seeing the old homestead in Old Tappan shortly after the passing of a John Haring".
I only have names of three children under Cassie and Adolph so appreciate the information. Brechje Smith was from Nyack, NY and I believe they landed in Nova Scotia on approx. 10/31/1783. If I can find out more about her I will let you know.
