Yes, my grandmother lived next to us on the farm here and died when I was 9 years old. My Dad has since passed as well, but he talked about many of the uncles and aunts he had, including Aunt Susie.

The Beechy family was originally Amish. If you'd like to do some serious tracing of their family, the book "Amish and Amish Mennonite Genealogies" by Gingerich and Kreider is a wonderful resource. There is a copy in the historical library at the Millersburg, Ohio public library.

I always wondered about Sol and Sarah Jane since she was not Amish. The Lenharts are the only branch of my dad's family that is not researched well and that's because they weren't Amish/Mennonite. By the way, I have a photo of Sarah Jane on her wedding day. It's from the Beechy Family Bible.

It is true that the children were "farmed out" to other families. I believe this was very common in those days. My grandmother Ida worked for a family and saved a man's life. She was driving the horses on a hay wagon when lightning struck the wagon and lit the hay on fire. The man loading hay was knocked unconscious. She was 14 years old at the time.

So, what's your Mom's name? Be sure to have her get some Swiss cheese to eat with the Trail bologna!

Beth
