Kathy,
I have a real deal of information about the ecnonmic state of Ireland in the period from 1830-1860. The major proble was the total loss of the potato crops and lack of any other economic use of the land and population. About 1.5 million starved during this period of time. Many a wealth landlord lost everything feeding the many tenents or paying their way to USA, Canada, NZ or other parts of the British "Empire". Families worked as units etc.
