I've wondered about this David Lemon/Lemons for a long time.I recently ran across some research on him done in 1990.This researchers shows: that he served in the Civil War (Pvt. Co F 15 Kansas Cav); that he was a Wagoner/Teamster in civilian life; that he lived in OH, IN, WI, Jefferson Co KS (on 1860 census record), TX, and Sterling, Whiteside Co IL; that his wife died in 1853 after the youngest son, David Albert Lemons was born [I believe that her given name may have been Cynthia, as David Albert also had a daughter named Cynthia]; that his two daughters were left in WI (Sarah J. Lemmon is shown on the 1860 Juneau Co WI census, as a domestic in the Wm. Atkins household).
I've been studying the Greene Co TN census for a very long time, and I've found only one household that David could have fit in 1830, and that is Polly Lemons. This Polly Lemons was Mary "Polly" Allen/Allon m Samuel Lamon/Leming 19 Mar 1793 Washington Co TN.Samuel Lamon/Leming is noted as being from Rockingham Co NC, and Greene Co TN, he is dead bfr the 1830 census was taken.
Another family in the area that David could have belonged to was that of Joseph Lamon/Lemmons and Elizabeth French, they were m 23 Oct 1805 Greene Co TN.Joseph Lamon/Lemmons was the son of David Lamon and Caty unknown of York Co PA; Shenandoah Co VA; and Washington Co TN.Joseph Lamon/Lemmons and his wife Elizabeth are found on the 1850 Morgan Co AL census with a son William b c1815 TN in their household.Unfortunately I don't know where Joseph Lamon/Lemmons was between the time he was married (1805) and the time he shows up on the 1850 Morgan Co AL census.
Does anyone have any more info about David b 1818?
