Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
Oh, my goodness, Dianne. I think I may have lots of interesting information for you. First, let me suggest that you do a genforum search on "William R Lemmon". This will bring you the wonderful posts of Mary Chattwood, a family member who lives in England. She's done extensive and invaluable research on this interesting family. Due, in large measure to her work, we can confirm that George Samuel's father, William Ranger Lemmon, was the son of George Lemmon, b. 1772 in Tentderden, Kent, and married to Judith Barnes in 1792 at Northiam. George was the son of William Lemmon and Elizabeth Ranger, who married in 1767 at Northiam, Sussex. Under my posts you'll find the Will, proved 1823, of William your 3X great-grandfather, to wit William Ranger Lemmon's grandfather. His poor son, George, only inherited 20 pounds, but his daughters evidently fared somewhat better. Your information on the Johnstons is very interesting. I'd also concluded that Jane's maiden AND married name must have been Johnston. I see we both have "hidden" addresses on this forum, but I think it might be better to get in touch directly by email. There is a huge amount of information to exchange.
