Francis Lemoine from Petites Newfoundland, married to Charlotte Bragg of Petites, was my great great grandfather. He was from France where his father was amiller by trade. In approx 1850, he jumped ship when it came to Newfoundland, because he had been pressed into naval service back in France, ( essentially kidnapped.) He was 15-16 years of age and he survived in the wilds of Newfounland until he made his way to the small community of Petites. The Bragg family took him in and he was very thankful to live with them. He married the daughter Charlotte after the both her parents (Lavinia White born 1818, and Philip Bragg, born 1823,son of John Bragg, married in 1840) died in 1854 (mother) and 1856(father) and he wanted to be able to take care of the Charlotte and her smaller siblings. Charlotte was baptised in 1843 along with her brother Thomas Bragg. Her younger sister, Sarah Ann Bragg was baptised in 1845.
Francois was called Francis in Newfoundland. He and Charlotte had their first child, Dinah in 1864. Their other children were Rosalie ( born 1866, died 1936, married Aaron Dingwell in October 1886 and was my great grandmother), Philip born 1868, Sarah Ann ( Annie) born 1870, Julia born 1873, William born 1875, Emmanual born 1878, and George born 1883. Sarah Ann was called Annie and she married a Mr. Baker and moved to New York area.

Francois Lemoine died in 1910 in Sydney, Nova Scotia where he moved to live with his eldest daughter, Dinah. He is buried there. Charlotte Bragg died in 1891 at the age of 48. Her youngest child was 8 years old at that time. Francois married again, to Susannah Coombs to have a mother for his children. He did not have children with Susannah.
