Geo.Lemley / ax-man with Mason-Dixon?

I have heard that George Lemley was an ax-man for Mason-Dixon when they surveyed the line between Pennsylvania and Maryland. The ax he used was reportedly owned by the Jacob C. Lemley family and now in the college in Morgantown. Can anyone confirm this? Has anyone checked with the college? Who was Jacob C. Lemley - was he the Jacob that married Sarah White and died about 1833-34??
