My great grandparents were Malissa Jane WHITEMAN, dau of John Marshall WHITEMAN and Eliza Jane BUCHANAN of Tyler and Randolph Co., WV. and Robert Sanford "Bob" THOMAS b. in Ohio or Ohio Co., WV.

Now, Robert was the son of Nancy THOMAS, who's brother was m. to Mary L. LEMLEY, sister to Richard LEMLEY, both children of John LEMLEY b. 1799 in Greene Co., PA but migrated into Wetzel Co., WV. I have not proven yet that John aline w/George LEMLEY and Catharine YOHO but alot of researchers agree that there was but one George LEMLEY, the common immigrator. But what I can tell you is that Nancy THOMAS and Richard LEMLEY had an affair, having at least (1) child, my above mentioned Robert Sanford THOMAS, my great grandfather. This infor. has been handed down to me since childhood and many elders remember the story well. When Robert Sanford THOMAS was abt 18 he had has name changed to LEMLEY, after asking his mother who his father truly was.

I have Richard LEMLEY b 1832 and was m. 2'xs additonally to Nancy FLUHARTY and Rebecca MYERS.

Would love to correspond w/anyone with similiar lineage. P.S. My ggrandmother, Malissa Jane WHITEMAN ended up herself m. to John L. BROOKOVER, and then later to Robert Bob Sanford LEMLEY.

I do have the LEMLEY book here and the writer calims there might have been 2 George LEMLEY's in history, who knows.
