Ludwig(23Aug 1823 - 29 Apr 1901) and his wife Maria (nee Oehmcke, 28 Mar 1927 - 23 Apr 1913) lived in the Schwerin, Mecklinburg area of N Germany. Two of their sons, John and Charles, came to America in 1871. Altogether, Ludwig and Maria had nine children, six sons and three daughters; they wound up settling in Waukesha County, WI, and in South Dakota. Their children's given names were John, Charles, Frederick, Sophia, Caroline (Lena),Christian, Louis, William,and Minnie. Several of the sons dropped the "c," including my grandfather, William.
