Nebraska Lemke's--John, Henry, Joseph, Richard
John, Henry, Joseph, and Richard were sons of Herman and Catherine (Weistricke sp) Lemke of "near Dusseldorf"
They first settled near St. Louis after entering the country circa 1864.They then moved to southeast Iowa and then on to the Lawrence, Nebraska area where John, Henry, and Joseph raised their families.Richard moved to the Effingham, Kansas area circa 1900 or 1901.Joseph died when he was run over by a runaway team of horses and John drowned when going for a swim after a work one day. Henry died of old age and Richard lived to be over 90.Henry's oldest son, Herman aka Batch was a colorful individual.Interested in learning more about the Lemke's--My paternal grandmother was a daughter of Henry and Mary (Meyer or Henshenmeier) Lemke.
