My sister just recently had her mtdna tested. My great-grandmother was Anna Belle LeMaster born 1900 in Ky. It was believed that she was Cherokee and that it passed through a female line. According to my sister's mtdna test done through the genographic project, that is not the case. If there was Native American Ancestry in that line, it had to have been passed from a male ancestor. Anyone else of LeMaster descent had their DNA tested that can prove this? We sure can't.
