http://www.rootsweb.com/~nscbgha/Cen1752CBIs.btm The above is the address to the 1752 Census of Ile Royale, including that of Baye des Espagnols. This census is interesting in that it shows how long the Acadians had been at Baye des Espangols having fled the British in Acadie. Scroll down to Baye Des Espagnols to Jean Baptiste LeJeune, wife Marguerite Trahan. This entry should correct any misconception about their marriage and the names of the children who were orphaned with relatives when exiled to Maryland. The twins Joseph and Antoinette had not yet been born. Living near them are the families of Paul LeJeune, wife and children and Etienne Trahan, wife and children. Draw your own conclusions ... I think they were near his parents, Paul LeJeune; and her parents, Etienne Trahan. Her brother, Honore Trahan, was living nearby. Honore Trahan was responsible for one of the children during the exile to Maryland. This may clear up the confusion with the Trahan family post stating that Marguerite Trahan was in Nantes, France and married to 2) Joseph Chevalier. Indeed, she was ... but she is not the same Marguerite Trahan. The age is incorrect and her marriage was to Jean-Charles LeJeune, not Jean Baptiste LeJeune. Check on pgs. 127-128 of THE ACADIAN EXILES IN NANTES 1775-1785 BY Albert J. Robichaux, Jr. He has transcribed all the Acadian records during the exile to France until their return to Louisiana. Sources are wonderful, when used accurately. Notify Administrator about this message?
