A Scavois Discussion..........
Do we have a translator here? I found this, in French, with a "translation", not too good it seems. It leads me to believe that SCAVOIS, instead of SAVOY, was the likely marriage partner of the Lejeune girl (I don't have my notes, but if you're following this family from the outset you'll know what I mean.) I do not believe the descendancy is from "the Duke of Savoy" as has been conjectured.

FRANÇOIS SAVOYE
F they unknown parents, the Acadian ancestor, François Savoye was born about 1621, originating in the Roadway, in Loudunois, in Large Poitou, in France. François is the pioneer stock of all Savoy of North America.
François Savoy or Savoye arrived in Acadie under the administration of the governor Charles de Menou d' Aulnay, about 1643, at least before 1651, date where it married with Catherine LeJeune-Briard, born about 1633, girl of LeJeune , unknown first name, known as Briard, and of a Abénaquis Indian. LeJeune arrived in Acadie with Poutrincourt, in 1611. Catherine LeJeune-Briard has also a sister who belongs to this genealogy. Edmée LeJeune, known as Briard, born in 1623, with Port-Royal, and marry of François Gautherot since 1636, in La-Hève.
Couple François Savoye and Catherine LeJeune-Briard, nine children come from their marriage, three boys and six girls, of which Jeanne Savoye, born about 1663, who becomes the wife about 1671, of the pioneer Étienne Pellerin , born in 1646, originating in St-Étienne-in-Bacilly, in Normandy.
In the first acadian census, carried out in 1671, one teaches that this Savoye family is established with Port-Royal, to ente the families from the pioneer Jehan Terriau , married to Perrine Bourg on the one hand, and of Francoise Scavois married to Jehan Corporon, on the other hand.
Description is done as follows:
" François Scavois aagé 50 years, its wife Catherine LeJeune aagée 38 years. Their enfans, nine, a girl of bride, aagée Francoise 18 years, not marry, 17 years aagé Germain, 14 years aagée Marie, aagée Jeanne of 13 ansd, nine years aagée Catherine, François eight, six years aagé Barnabé, 4 year old Andrée, one year aagée Marie and demy, cattle has horns 4 parts, arable lands siz arpans "
One knows very few things of the history of Savoye, but thanks especially to Germain Savoye, it ensures the descent until our days, of the Savoy patronym.
One is unaware of even the date of the death of the pioneer François Savoye and his wife Catherine LeJeune-Briard, surely deceased in the area of Port-Royal.
The exact origin of the patronym Savoy or Savoye is not known. It probably nominates persons originating in the province of Savoy, in France. Several C-Ws communication exist of this name, one finds Savoy, Savoy, Savoye, Savoix, Savois, Scavoie, Scavois, etc. The name Savoy is that which is spread the most by the descendants, in all North America.
