Leighton Family of Abbott Village, Andover America-mid 1840s.

On researching my Leighton Family of Angus I have come across a reference to some cousins- William Cooper Donald and his wife Agnes Bain Donald nee Smart(a distant cousin of mine) and family leaving Scotland for America. In this item it says they stayed with the Leightons in Abbot Village, Andover. This would have been the mid-1840s.

Agnes Bain Donald nee Smart was the grand-niece of Jean Leighton nee Bain wife of Charles Leighton, Cabinet Maker of Montrose, Forfarshire/Angus (my great, great, great, great grandparents. As Agnes had previously (in the 1830s) stayed with my great, great, great grandfather Walter Leighton, the Watchmaker of Montrose, Forfarshire, Scotland, could the Leightons in Abbot Village, Andover, America be also related to my Leightons and be the reason why the Donald family stayed with them?

I would be interested in any information on the Leighton family of Abbot Village.

Agnes Donald nee Bain
