Louise,
Ferdinand was the son of William Leigh of Amherst whose will was made 1788 and probated September 1794. He names wife Ann and children. There appear to be 2 sets of children: The elder are John Leigh and Betsy Kinsolving.
The younger children (possibly/probably by another wife were William Henry, George Ware, Ferdinand, Patsey Moore, Mary, Jane and Ann. Ferdinand had only one child that survived to adulthood: James Walker Leigh.
We have been doing a lot of research about this family and some DNA, particularly on the William Henry line, the George Ware line and the Ferdinand line. If you want more details about what we have been doing and what we have found contact me by e-mail.
