Hungerford/Leigh Letter

Hi Richard,
The letter you refer to was in the Essex Institute at one time, when William Lee wrote his book and spoke of the letter.
As you may know the Essex Institute has merged and is now known as the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA.
As you may know the Essex Institute has merged and is now known as the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA.The old Essex Institute "moved" some of their manuscripts and etc. to other libraries, museums, universities, schools and so on, over the years and did not keeprecords of where or what they sent elsewhere. This makes it very difficult to locate documents unless you can piece together the relationship of the document you are searching for when a location.
