Miriam L. Cashman
Miriam L. (Leib) Cashman, 87, of New Oxford and formerly of East Berlin, died Thursday, April 26, 2007 at the Hanover Hospital.
Born Nov. 1, 1919 in Malta, Mont., she as the daughter of the late John G. and Grace (Spangler) Leib. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Glenn C. Cashman, who died Dec. 15, 2001.
Mrs. Cashman was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, East Berlin, where she taught Sunday school. She was a graduate of East Berlin High School and attended Beauty Culture School in York. Mrs. Cashman was then a beautician in East Berlin. She helped her husband open Cashman’s Hardware Store in East Berlin in 1946. Mrs. Cashman was a homemaker after helping her husband to start the hardware store. She was a member of the Eastern Star, where she was a past worthy matron. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a dedicated bird watcher.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Cashman and Jack Cashman, both of East Berlin, and Steve Cashman of Dover; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Gentzler of Hanover and Irma Jean Renaut of Spring Grove.
She was pre-deceased by one son, Tom Cashman and one brother, Harold Leib.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 29, at 2 p.m. from
Trinity Lutheran Church, West King Street, East Berlin with Pastor Ray Turnbaugh officiating. Burial will be in East Berlin Union Cemetery. A viewing will be held Saturday, April 28, from 6-8 p.m. at the Feiser Funeral Home Inc., 306 Harrisburg St., East Berlin, and on Sunday at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, PO Box 1016, East Berlin, PA 17316.
