Well, Bottingen is located in the west of Germany. it is a really small town and there aren't that much informations in the net. Maybe your ancestors are the relatives of my ancestors because in this period of time, the Minorty of my ancestors were living in Besserarabia near the Black Sea because the King gave them land.
In my family tree, there are no persons who have live in Bottingen. So i would say your main Lehr-ancestor is relatived with my for example gggrand-father as a cousin or something else.
I think in a certain time the source of the sur-name Lehr went different directions. And so there were populations of people who have the same name in the west of Germany and who are genetic relatived with the populations in the east of Germany. And in this case the most Lehrs in Eastgermany went to Besserarabia and so there were no contact with the Lehrs which are living near France at the border (Bottingen). And one of the west-german-Lehrs went to America but this a very long time ago so that there must be really hard researches to find out how all Lehrs are conect genetic.
I hope you have understand me with my bad english (typicall german, but I try to learn it =)

Greets, Ruben.
