I think I have good news, as it looks like your family was on the ship Holsatia, arrived 14 Sep 1868, from Hamburg port, to NY port and in this order on the passenger list.

Ludwig Lehmann 24 or 28
Caroline Lehmann 59, his wife
August Koch 18

This matches, very close with ages, with the Brandenburg Emigration Registration that I had given you on my previous reply and kind of with the 1870 Census at Hustisford.

Brandenburg, Prussia Emigration Registration:

Karoline Wilhelmine Lehmann (maiden name Juhre) 65, widow
Johann Ludwig Lehmann 28, child of Karoline
Karl Robert Lehmann/Koch 18, grand child of Karoline
all from Reetz/Koenigsberg, registered form emigration in 1868

1870 Hustisford, Dodge Co, WI Census:

August Lehmann 45 Prussia
Ludwig Lehmann 29 Prussia
August Lehmann 20 Prussia
Caroline Lehmann 66 Prussia

The ages on the ship Holsatia are a little off, but on the census they are correct compared to the Brandenburg List, and Caroline shows as Ludwig's wife, and your August was last name Koch, so I am wondering if they gave the ages incorrectly for some reason, but I am almost certain this is your family on this ship Holsatia in 1868.

This is exciting now because in the Brandenburg list shows the family from Reetz, and there is an Alt Reetz or called Reetz, just south of Neu Ruednitz, and Alt Ruednitz by only a few miles, and Alt Ruednitz (Alt Rudnitz [sic] ) is where your friend Pam's Lehmanns are from.

But the most exciting part is you can order the Hamburg Passenger List that will show the town in Brandenburg, and will likely confirm your family from Alt Reetz (Altreetz) near Alt Ruednitz. The Passenger List to NY is the Arrival Passenger list, but this does not show the town, while the other Passenger list, is the Departure list called the Hamburg Manifest and this will show the town name.

You can order this through your local Family History Center for about 5 dollars.

What do you think?
