Henri Legros, born Aug 1838, Prussia
Posted by: Jim Moore Date: February 28, 2001 at 20:58:22

My ggrandfather, Henrich (Henri) Legros, wife Frances and sons Nicolas & Hendrich arrived in New York on the 8th of
August 1867 from Liverpool, aboard the "SS The Queen." They most likely left Prussia shortly before then but from
what port is still unknown to me. Is there any way for me to find out whether the voyage to New York, aboard the SS
The Queen, originated in Liverpool or, hopefully somewhere on the continent. On various US Census records, Henri
(or Henrich) stated that he was born in Prussia and on others he stated that he was born in France. Frances was born in
Cologne, Germany and family lore tells us that Henri was from Malmédy. I haven't been able to find their birthplaces,
nor where they were married although when they arrived in New York in 1867, Henri was 30 years old and Frances
was 23; Nicolas was 3 years old and Hendrich was 8 months old, both born in Prussia. I would very much appreciate
any help in solving this 'brick wall'. Sincerely, Jim Moore, Prescott, AZ., USA.
