Hi,
I am trying to find information on my ancestors Joseph Legare b. 15 Dec. 1790. He married Ann Ellison. They married
4 Nov.1817. Joseph Legare died 11 Sept. 1854 at Perth. What I am trying to find out is who was Joseph Legare's father. Joseph might have lied about his age to get into the military. Joseph Legare spent 7 years in the military and was a QM SGT. with the Canadian Fencibles during the war of 1812-1814. In 1816 he was among the first pioneers in the Perth settlement were he obtained a land grant along the Mississippi river about a mile north of Balderson Twp Ontario. He ran a ferry service. On the 13 Sept.1854 Joseph Legare at the age of 64 yrs. was buried at Perth. The farm remained in the Legare family until the turn of the century. Then the surname on this line faded. I know Joseph was born in Quebec. I just can't find any record's on his parents. I know his line goes back to Gilles Legare but I need his parents names to link them all the way back.Dale Legary
