Ana:Re: Daniel Legare ("Jr.")'s wife, some info has descended on my line that might be of help.The notes from my father's files say that Daniel Legare ("Jr.")'s wife was Elizabeth Peckum (m. 6 Dec. 1752; d. 7 Oct. 1811), the daughter of Joseph Peckum (variant spelling: Peycomb; Paycom; Pickum) and Rebecca (no maiden name given).I am also a Reeves so assume that you are a descendant ofEnos Reeves and Amy Legare.Following is my line; if you or Linda have any information different from my own inherited information, I would appreciate knowing it.
My 2x-great grandparents were Matthew Sully Reeves (b. 15 Dec. 1815, Charleston, SC - d. 10 Aug. 1862, Charleston, SC) and Ellen Jackson Bounetheau (b. 17 Feb. 1814, Charleston, SC - d. 14 Feb. 1902, Charleston, SC) who m. 9 April 1835, Charleston, SC.
My 3x-great grandparents were Aeneas S. Reeves (b. 12 Dec. 1787, Charleston, SC - d. Nov. 1822, Charleston, SC) and Elizabeth Sully, daughter of Matthew Sully, Jr. (b. 6 June 1773, Tiverton, Devonshire, England - d.7 April 1812, Augusta, Ga.) and Elizabeth Robertson. [Mattthew Sully, Jr., was the brother of Thomas Sully the painter of Charleston and Philadelphia.Three of their sisters also married Charlestonians: Elizabeth Sully (aunt for whom Elizabeth Sully Reeves was named) m. Middleton Smith; Harriott Sully m. Dr. Porcher; Jane Sully m. the artist LeRoy Belzons].
My 4x-great grandparents were Enos Reeves (b. 4 Feb. 1753, Cumberland Co., NJ - d. 23 June 1807, Charleston, SC) and Amy Legare (b. 1760, Charleston, SC - d. 15 Sept. 1804, Charleston, SC) who m. 21 Dec. 1785 at Charleston, SC.
My 5x-great grandparents were Daniel Legare ("Jr.") (bapt. 2 June 1734, Charleston, SC - d. 10 April 1791, Charleston, SC) and Elizabeth Peckum (d. 7 Oct. 1811) who m. 6 Dec. 1752.
My 6x-great grandparents were Solomon Legare, Jr. (b. 1703 - d. 19 Nov. 1774, at ?Tanner?) and Amey Stock (b. about 1700 - d. 27 Aug. 1772).
My 7x-great grandparents were the gold and silversmith Solomon Legare (b. abt. 1663, Lyons, France - d. 8 May 1760, Charleston, SC; naturalized Eng. 8 March 1682) and Sarah (?) who died 12 Feb. 1712; they were married in 1693.
My 8x-great grandparents were goldsmith Francois Legare (b. ca. 1635, France - d. 30 Dec. 1710/11, Braintree, Mass; naturalized England 8 March 1682) and Anne Lancois (d. before 1689; naturalized Eng. 8 March 1682).
