I am researching Isaac Leftwich and Mary "Polly" Engledow of Wythe County, Virginia, daughter of William Engledow, naming his daughter Polly Engledow Leftwich Straw, in his Will, 1813-1814, Wythe County, Virginia.

Mary Engledow, b. 1775, d. 1840, buried St. Pauls Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wythe County, Virginia, and Isaac Leftwich had sons, Wayman and Isaac Jefferson Leftwich. Isaac Sr, died prior to 1810 when William Engledow Sr. is named as the guardian of Wayman and Isaac Leftwich. Mary Leftwich, herself and sons, appear in the 1810 Wythe County, Virginia census without husband, Isaac. Isaac J. Leftwich was born 1799, died 1893, married Nancy Ward, in 1825, born 1803, died 1857. Isaac J. and Nancy Ward Leftwich are buried at St. Johns Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wythe County, Virginia. Isaac Jefferson Leftwich was a lawyer and one of the wealthiest men of his time in Wytheville County, Virginia.

No further information has been found on Wayman Leftwich, however, the name Isaac Wayman was carried down in the Engledow family.

Mary Polly Engledow Leftwich married second to John Frederick Straw/Stroh and they had other children from her second marriage.

Would like to exchange information with anyone connected to this line.

Thank you,

Gayle Basaldu
