Rhoda Stephens, dau of Lawrence Stephens and Joanna Herbert, grandaughter of Peter Stephens, Jr. and Anna Maria Chrisman. More about these lines at my website : http://varoots.tripod.com
I just now discovered the identity of her second husband the elusive Dr. Straw. Wythe and Carroll Counties in Virginia.
He would be Dr. John Straw. 1785- bef 1880
Rhoda Stephens first husband was John Early.
Dr. John Straw's first wife was Mary Leftwich.
After the demise of their respective spouses, they married ( still researching the date) would be BEFORE 1850.
Here is Rhoda and John in the 1850 Wythe Co VA census:

John B. Straw | 34 M | Farmer
John's son, John Brown Straw b.1815, was also a physician as was John Brown's son William Reese Straw b 1870. Both John Brown and William Reese buried at St Paul's Episcopal Church Cemetery in Wytheville, Wythe Co VA.
Dr. Wm Reese Straw had brother John R. Straw and sister Ella M. Straw Currin.
In 1880 Carroll Co Va census, Rhoda is again widowed, age 87 and living with family.

Rhoda had five children that I know of from her marriage with John Early.
I've yet to discover if/ how many children from second marriage.
If anyone has the dates of death for Mary Leftwich and John Early or the marriage date of Rhoda and John Straw, please advise.
