I found my gg grndprts in the Franklin Co., VA, marriage bonds list--William Rakes and Celia Leffew. They went by Billy and Celie. I noted that you mentioned that Rebecca Leffew might have been Cherokee. Celie and Billy had a daughter, Calla R. Rakes (also have heard her called Callie Amanda) who, I'm told by my older relatives, was full Cherokee. Unless Billy was also Cherokee, this is unlikely, but I wanted to touch base anyway. Any thoughts?
