Hi Jo,
There have been rumors for years on this subject, and why it may be confusing, is, the name has the same meaning in Hebrew, and in German.

There has been several adoptions in the Leffel clans, and one sticks out the most for me, the father of Dr. James Leffel of Indianpolis who adopted from the Freedom Train into the Leffel family. The family still has the Leffel name, and has both names on his head stone, honoring both families. I have that information,and his last name could well be polish?
