Please help in finding ancestors of Darius LeFevre Sessions born about 1814 in either Vermont or New Jersey. He moved when a young man to Champaign County, Ohio at about the same time as an older Darius Sessions, a JW Sessions and Ira Allen Sessions. Also in the same general family is a Susan LeFevre who married Harvey Cushman in Champaign Co. Ohio. I cannot find the relationship between the Sessions and LeFevre families. I know it was strong as Darius's son, my Great grandfather was named Minard LeFevre Sessions and my father carried the name Minard (MacNeill). Darius appears on the 1840 census and is gone by 1850, having married my gggrandmother, Adaline Meacham Bates in 1842 and fathering three children: Minard, Mary and Cynthia. Some histories speculate that Ira was a son of Darius Sessions born 1776 in Pomfret, Windsor, Vermont and that my Darius is also a son of the same, but I cannot find any proof. I have read the Pomfret birth and marriage records and find that Darius 1776 married Melinda Marsh and had two children: Eunice and Alonzo--this marriage was too late to father Ira and Darius 1776 stays in VT after the possible birth date of Darius LeFevre and no other births are recorded for Darius 1776 and Melinda. There are vague connections to New Jersey where both LeFevres and Sessions
lived--they do not appear together in Vermont. I am thinking that my Darius is from a New Jersey branch of the Sessions family, one of whom married a LeFevre and that for some reason he joined a cousin or uncle in Woodstock, Champaign Co., Ohio around 1838 or so. If anyone knows any Sessions/LeFevre connections, please respond.
