Rancy,

You wrote: "I find your message on immigration very interesting and it gave me an insight to why my gggrandfather came to Michigan.

I have a gggrandfather that was born in LaPrarie Quebec Canada on March 11,1843 and have not been able to find out any information on him. His name on his marriage license
was Syrophile Lefevre. I was wondering if you have ever came across a first name like that or anything that might be close in your works."

Indeed, Syrophile is an uncommon first name and the very first time I encounter it. Pamphile and Théophile are more common.

I have not searched the Laprairie area since my ancestors are centered in the island of Montreal and the Soulanges county. There may be a line that moved to the Laprairie area but have not yet researched it.

I have to admit my research has not been progressing much for the past year as I had to take care of matters concerning my one and only sister who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and had to take care of different financial and legal matters which have taken most of my spare time...
