I am a descendant of John Bishop who immigrated to Connecticut from England, along with William Leete, in 1639. The book "The Descendants of John Bishop of Guilford, Conn." states on page 5 that Samuel Bishop (1670-1753), the son of John Bishop Jr., married Abigail Wetmore ( born about 1678), dau. of Thomas Wetmore of Middletown, Conn., on April 20 1697. The Genealogical and Family History of the State of Connecticut, Vol I (1911) states on page 729, in discussing the Wetmore Line, that Thomas Wetmore (of Middletown)"...married (third) Katherine (Leete) Robards, widow, who died October 13, 1693." On page 730 "Children of the third wife...Abigail, born November 6, 1678....". There are two Leete Line summaries, at pages 769-770 and 1656-1657. Both list William Leete's daughters as Abigail(no birthdate), Gratiana, Dec. 22,1653, Peregrine, Jan. 12 1658 and Anna, March 10 1661. Abigail appears to have been born in the 1643-1651 time period. Could it be that Abigail Leete's full name was Katherine Abigail Leete, later Robards, later Wetmore, and was the mother of Abigail Wetmore? Can anyone help me with this? Sincerely, Robert N.
