I am looking for information on a particular Lee family.
According to his World War I draft registration card, his name was James William Jefferson Lee. He was born on Dec 5, 1888 in Pike County Georgia, the son of Joseph J. Lee and Sarah Melissie Harris.
In the 1900 Pike County, Georgia Census, he is living with his parents and is listed as Willie Lee. He married Katie Pearl McKinley on July 22, 1906 in Pike County, Georgia.
In the 1910 Pike County, Census, the couple are living with Joe J. Lee, his father. He is again listed as Willie Lee They have one child, a son listed as Guy N. Lee, aged 2.
In the 1920 Census, He is listed as William J. Lee and the family is still living in Pike County. Guy N. Lee is now listed as Jaynell Lee, aged 12 and they have other children as well, Henry L. Lee aged 9, Paul Lee aged 7, and Mary Irma Lee, aged 1 year 2 months.
In the 1930, the family had moved to Polk County Georgia. He is again listed as William J. Lee in the census. The couple only have two children in their household at this time, Paul, and Mary Irma Lee.
In the 1940, the family is living on Jefferson Street in Atlanta, Fulton Co. Georgia.
Again, the only children in the household are Paul and Mary Irma Lee. If the 1940 Census is correct, between the 1930 Census and the 1940, the family had moved to Upson County Georgia. This appears to have been true because in the obituary of his aunt, William is referred to as W. J. Lee of Thomaston Georgia which is in Upson County.
James William Jefferson Lee died on June 11, 1963 in Atlanta, Fulton Co. Georgia. His wife Katie Pearl Lee died on Dec 20, 1963 in Atlanta. Both are buried in Magnolia Cemetery in Atlanta.
I have been unable to find any information on any of this couples children. Paul Lee and Mary Irma Lee were both living and unmarried in the 1940 Census, as for the other two, Guy N/Jaynell, and Henry L. Lee I have found nothing to suggest that they died...so they must have moved away somewhere.
I would welcome any information on this family.
