I was aware of the Lee connection to the Washington family, but not the particulars. I have felt for a long time that my W.L. Lee was at best a distant relation to Robert E., but have never come across his name among the many cousins & relations I have searched. Since it was a common practice to name sons, especially second ones, after the mother's family, I have felt that there might be a connection to the Washingtons, but that could have just as easily been to honor G.W. My own grandfather's names was Lafayette but we definately are not related to that family!
If you some across mention of my W.L. Lee I would greatly appreciate any help. I have not been successful in contacting any of the other descendents of this line.
