We have recntly discovered several letters in an old trunk that belonged to Martha Jane Lee O'Leary (sister of my 2nd Great grand father). The letters are dated 1845-1855. The letters were from aunts and uncles Thomas M. & Sara H. Lee and John & Harriet Broadaway in Diamond Hill and Burnsville in Anson Co, North Carolina. They make reference grand father Lee's passing on Mar 04, 1839 in Anson County, North Carolina. Grand mother Lee and Grand mother Broadaway are doing ok. Of course there are no first names shown for grandfather and the grandmothers. What fun would there be in that? Martha Jane and Pleasant M Lee (my 2nd great grandfather) came to Houston Texas sometime in the late 1930's or early 1840's, We are beginning to think that their father might have been Joseph K Lee, formerly of Anson County. We also have learned that there was another brother (Hampton Lafayette Lee)that came to Texas and later moved on to St Louis Missouri. We have also learned tha Pleasant M. Lee served in the Texas Navy on the Schooner San Bernard during the Texas fight for indapendance from Mexico. Other names that have been popping up in our tree are Culpepper, Mask(e), Allen, Staton These letters have opened up a whole new branch of our research on the LEE family. We would appreciate and advice or help in untangeling or Lee tree limbs. We would also be glad to share what we have found so far. Thanks a bunch in advance David W Barnett Down in Texas Notify Administrator about this message?
