Hi, Dixie, I'll try to respond as well as I can. First, I don't know why my e-mail address didn't work; it's aswhite@erols.com, and it should be working; maybe the system was overloaded or something. I took a quick look for the Ledyard book, and I saw several copies listed for sale at http://www.bibliofind.com, a site that I have found to be very good for locating hard-to-find or out-of-print books. I saw one copy listed for about $100, but several others for considerably less. I believe I paid about $55 or so for a new copy, but I doubt that new ones are still available, since only 1,000 were printed. I'll give you some more from the book about the people you mentioned. The book says that John L., born 1666, Bradford, was a sergemaker with a shop on Temple Street. He married, first, Sarah Window, previously thought to have been Windham, on 10/3/1690 in Bristol, at the Church of St. Mary LaPort. She died and was buried 8/2/1691 at Broadmead Baptist Church.

The book says that John Lidyard, baptized in Bradford on 12/14/1617, married Elizabeth Hillard about 1665. She was born in Bradford in 1644.

The book says that John Ledyard, son of John and Sarah (Window) Ledyard, was born about 1694 in Bradford. (At one point the book mistakenly lists his birthdate as 1666, that of his father.) He married Sarah Allen of Frome, Somerset; the marriage license was registered 9/13/1716. She was listed as a spinster, aged 23 years.

That's all I could glean about those people; I doubt there was much other information available to the author. The book contains excellent references, so it could point you toward other sources of good information.

I haven't done much work on the Whites, though I have considerable data gathered by others. Many of my White ancestors were Quakers; some lived in North Carolina, and later many were in Indiana, then some moved to Pennsylvania, where I come from. Others, I believe, went to New Zealand. I guess the odds are against our having a connection there, because of the great number of Whites who are out there.

Anyway, let me know if you'd like me to dig up anything else from the Ledyard book. Give the e-mail another shot if you want; it should be working OK.
