The book, which is called The Ledyard Family in America, naturally concentrates on the descendants in the U.S. I'll give you some of the facts from the discussion of the Leyards in England. The book says the Ledyard name is of Welsh origin, after the name Llwdydard, a place in Wales. The first person discussed in detail is John Lidyard, baptized in Bradford, Wiltshire, England, on Dec. 14, 1617. The next generation was John Ledyard, born 1666 in Bradford. His son, another John, was born in Bradford in about 1694; he had another son John, born in 1716. Other Ledyards lived in other parts of England, such as Bristol and Trowbridge. I'll be interested to hear if you are able to make a connection.
