leduc/quebec/ontario
I am wondering if anyone might have some info on a Thomas leduc born in Quebec in 1811.I do not know his parent's names or even the town where he was born but I do have some facts that I am following. The info that I have may not be valid because of the lack of records that I have so some of it is guessing by dates, etc.Anyway, this Thomas Leduc eventually moved to Ontario and I believe that he married a Mary or Mary madeleine Callaghan.Mary and her family camefrom Cork county in 1825 with the Peter Robinson group and landed in Peterborough.I do not know where Thomas and Mary met or were married but they seem to have ended up in Simcoe county. This line of my family seem to have had some ties to Tiny and Penetanguishene as those towns come up alot.I am not sure how many kids they had but my connection is by one of their children, a Thomas James Leduc who was born in Penetanguishene in 1835.This person,my ggggrandfather, moved to B.C. where he met and married my ggggrandmother, Rose Schubert. Her parents were part of the Overlander group that came to B.C.Thomas was a schoolteacher and worked alongside his mother-in-law, Catherine Schubert in schools in the interior. They opened up the first school in Armstrong, Round Prairie School.Thomas and Rose eventually divorced and he lived the rest of his life in the Armstrong area, never remarrying.I can find nothing for sure of who his parents but have a strong hunch that it is the first Thomas and Mary but have no real confirmed info on this.I would love to know where the first Thomas came from in Quebec and get a chance to trace his line back from there. If any of this story strikes a chord with anyone, as either correct or incorrect, I would really appreciate their input. Thanks so much.Rena.
